Day 5
Nothing leisurely about today. Head down, 382 miles of covering ground. This and tomorrow are set to be the most arduous and boring of the whole trip. Exiting Barcelona was a little circuitous and different to the initial plan, but we saw the Arc de Triomphe (yes, there's one here too) and lots of bits of Barcelona that we wouldn't otherwise have done. A stop for lunch at some motorway services saw Damian in deep discomfort - Nicky's diagnosis: a trapped nerve - and deeply disappointed when the appetising tomato-ish pasta turned out to have sardines in it. Plenty of Peaj, a confusing change to the road layouts in the two years since our map was printed (Tom-Tom wasn't confused, only me!) and some phantom ice-creams. Why would a garage have posters for ice-creams it didn't sell? Pathetically little in the way of photography today!
